Rockville, MD

The girl I've just started seeing, Liz, was in Rockville, MD, which is just outside of Baltimore. She's here for business - she runs operations for the BU Theater School or something... not really quite sure yet just what it is she does. Anyhow, I decided to drive to her and stayed here last night. It was only an hour off my scheduled itinerary so it made sense.

We went to a restaurant called BJ Pumpernells for lunch, which was just like Ben's near Nana's. We had matzah ball soup, which was too salty but otherwise very good, with big chunks of soft celery and carrots. Then we had latkes, which were gross, and a pastrami sandwich, which was gross. The applesauce was gross. The waitress was a bitch. The prices were expensive. So I guess it wasnt like Ben's actually, because Ben's is pretty good.

Now we are trying to figure out whether Liz will drive back with me to Boston or whether she will fly. She is not sure whether she can bail on her plane tickets because BU bought them, not her. But it would be fun to drive. Because of the impending storm, we would drive to Larchmont tonight and then Boston tomorrow.

cross-country

Right, so if you dont already know, I'm moving back to Boston this week. I decided to drive. As of now, here is the plan:

Day 1: to Alberquerueruerue: 580 miles
Day 2: to OK City: 550 miles
Day 3: to Nashville: 700 miles
Day 4: to Alexandria, PA: 695 miles
Day 5: to Malden, MA: 478 miles

This is day 1-3, a straight shot due east:

This is day 4

This is day 5:

I am going to try and go to AAA this morning and find some interesting places to stop (briefly) on this route. The only one I know of so far is a petrified forest halfway between Vegas and Alberqueueuurrueuque. If anyone knows some worthwhile things to see along this route, let me know. These should just be quick 1 hour stops, max.

99% of it is highways. So I need to pick up a radar detector, because (sorry Dad) I will not be doing 55. I will try to average 75, which means driving times between 7-9 hours per day.

That reminds me, I need to get a Road Atlas. Yes I am aware I can get maps for free at AAA but I want it all in 1 book, not scattered amongst 75 maps.

hi

so after a year of living here julie realized that since she doesnt pay her electricity bill, but DOES pay her gas bill (which the heat runs off) it miiiight be a good idea to heat the house with electric space heaters and save $400/mo in the winter ;)

so we're gonna go get somespace heaters today. instant savings baby!

also goin to the bank and to blockbuster. big day here in malden.

julie did a sudoku in like 11 minutes and when she was done i had like 5 boxes filled in. she should seriously go to the sodoku word championships
